Kererū Installation

Created by Debbie Fish and David Goldthorpe, GoldFish Creative
Exhibited at Splore Festival (2016), Light Nelson (2016), and Taupoō Winter Festival (2017)

In Kererū we are paying homage to all the New Zealand native birds that have been lost and will be lost to predators such as domestic cats, and changes to their environment caused by human impact.

The work is made from number 8 wire and aluminium wireform mesh frame, with feathers made from used plastic bags, and the colourful plumage around the neck region is weaved from cat collars with bells. Lighting uses LED strip and low-voltage LED floods, all powered using batteries charged off a solar panel.
